University of Kerbala Discussing an M.A. Thesis on Investigating Behaviour of Magnetorheological (MR) damper to improve Response of a Vehicle Suspension System

Faculty of Engineering /University of Kerbala has investigated the use of a magnetorheological (MR) damper to improve the response of car suspension system. It is presented by
Hussein Muhannad Hussein.

The thesis includes a study and simulation of semi-active suspension system using MR damper technique using quarter-car model in simulating the response of the system through Matlab / Simulink environment.
The skyhook technology with SFM have been used to predict the required damping force and produce an equivalent effort. The results show a significant improvement in damping road profile vibrations by 50% from vertical displacement and 39% from vertical acceleration compared to passive suspension.
