Faculty of Science / University of Kerbala has discussed the M.A thesis which is entitled “preparation characterization and spectroscopic determination of some metal ions diazotization reactions and their applications.
The study, presented by Abdel-Har Radi Odeh aims at preparing a new organic reagent from azo compounds and their derivatives and use it to determine small quantities of cobalt and chromium ions.
The thesis includes preparing a new detector, EATDB, and diagnosing it using several techniques, including UV_Vis , HNMR , CNMR , FT_IR and G.C/Mass, and using it to detect very small quantities of cobalt and chromium ions.
The study concludes that it is possible to measure small quantities of cobalt and chromium ions using a spectrophotometer, and according to Beer–Lambert law, a wide range of concentrations can be obtained, while it recommends preparing new reagent derivatives to enhance properties of reagent and its selectivity, as well as applying reagent in estimating other components and using it to extract elements different selectivity.
