The Faculty of Administration and Economics at the University of Kerbala has discussed the PhD dissertation entitled “The role of electronic bank settlements in enhancing financial performance and its implications for the market value of the bank”.
The dissertation, presented by the researcher Muhammad Majeed Jawad, aims at knowing the direction of the variable components of electronic bank settlements on the reality of the financial performance of each of the banks, the study sample in order to increase its market value,
The dissertation discusses the role of electronic bank settlements in seeking to achieve several advantages, including the completion of financial transactions quickly, accurately and effectively, as well as reducing costs and overcoming human errors that may occur when carrying out traditional settlement operations, which contributes to developing and developing the capabilities of the financial and banking sector.
The discussion shows the role of electronic bank settlements in improving the financial performance of the bank and enhancing the market value by raising financial performance indicators.
The study has found that the RTGS system moves in the direction of the bank’s activity and the level of its profitability, which prompts banks to increase their dealings with it to reduce risks, even if these rates are rising and falling due to the weak stability of transfer amounts achieved in each period according to banking and financial activity during years of the study and because of the economic conditions that Iraq has gone through, especially in recent years.
The study recommends the necessity of working to enhance dealing with electronic settlement systems and developing the volume of funds entering the system by intensifying cooperation between participating banks that provide electronic payment services to customers.
