University of Kerbala Holding a Lecture on the Role of Literacy in Achieving Sustainable Development

Being classified within framework of the Third National Plan on Women, Security, and Peace 2025, implemented by Women’s Affairs Unit _
College of Science_ University of Kerbala organizes a lecture which is entitled” the role of literacy in achieving sustainable development”.
Being delivered by Dr. Doreen Benjamin Hormuz_ College of Administration and Economics- University of Kerbala and Dr. Ali Hamza Hadi _College of Education for Humanities, this activity aims at raising awareness of the importance of literacy as one of the most prominent challenges facing developing societies and as it hinders effective participation in economic and social life.
The lecture highlights that literacy represents a means of unlocking human potential and a starting point for achieving sustainable development goals of societies. It also reviews various forms of literacy, including traditional, functional, and digital literacy.
The lecture also focuses on inevitability of women’s education, given their essential role in building families and advancing societies.
