University of Kerbala Holds a Course on Sustainable Development in Higher Education

College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala organizes a scientific course on “Sustainable Development in Higher Education: From Theory to Practice”.
Being presented by Dr. Sadiq Ubais Mankour Al-Shafi’i, Dr. Ali Turki Shaker Al-Fatlawi, and Dr. Uday Obaidan Salman Al-Jarrah, the course aims at enhancing participants’ understanding of the concepts and dimensions of sustainable development and its role in building a modern university education system that meets international standards. It also empowers teaching staff to integrate principles of sustainable development into university curricula by designing applied activities and innovative teaching practices and strengthen students’ critical thinking and social responsibility skills through adoption of sustainable teaching strategies.
The course includes theoretical framework of sustainable development in higher education, transition to sustainable universities in terms of infrastructure, administration, and governance, and practical application through integrating sustainability into teaching, research, and community service activities.
