University of Kerbala Organizes a Scientific Symposium on Religious Identities in Karbala

College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala, in cooperation with Karbala Center for Studies and Research, affiliated with Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, Department of Antiquities of Karbala, organizes a scientific symposium entitled ((Religious Identities in Karbala: Roots and Dimensions)).
Being presented by Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Quraishi, Director of Karbala Center for Studies and Research, Dr. Zuhair Al-Jawahiri, Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Karbalai, archaeological excavator Zahid Muhammad, and attendance of professors and students of the college.
The symposium aims at clarifying Christian and Jewish presence in Karbala and their places of residence before advent of Islam, from churches, monasteries and prominent palaces dating back to these religions.
The symposium includes several axes, including talking about Al-Ukhaidir Fortress between cultural heritage and testimony of history on the future, and explaining archaeological sites excavated in Karbala.
The researchers focus on Palaces and churches that are still standing, dating back to the third century AD, are the Nestorian Church of Emperor and ancient Al-Ukhaidir Fortress.
