University of Kerbala Organizes a Symposium on Cultural Identity and Women’s Empowerment

College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala organizes a scientific symposium on “Cultural Identity and Women’s Empowerment: A Reading in Light of Contemporary Intellectual Challenges”.
Being presented by Dr. Kareema Noumas Mohammed, the symposium discusses the concept of cultural identity and its multi-dimensional characteristics, including linguistic, religious, social, and historical dimensions, with an explanation that it is a dynamic, non-static identity, and is affected by both internal and external factors.
It aims at demonstrating relationship between cultural identity and women, as a key factor in transmitting and consolidating culture within the family and society, since women are carriers of heritage and traditions and are responsible for social education.
The symposium also emphasizes the need to identify intellectual challenges facing women’s cultural identity, whether those resulting from globalization, modernist thought trends, intellectual extremism and ideologies, as well as negative media influence.
