Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences / University of Kerbala, in cooperation with Strategic Studies Center, have organized a scientific symposium entitled (Violence against women within the framework of law, Islamic law and psychology), with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists.
The lecturers deal with the definition of violence against women and its causes in Islamic law.
The symposium indicates that violence is a global phenomenon that women suffer from in all societies, especially Iraqi society. Women often suffer the most because they are more fragile, the weakest on the ladder of rights, and the least in possession of the sources of social power. Violence against women has a long history and is one of the most violations of human rights. It is a form of discrimination against women based on gender that leads to physical, sexual, psychological and economic harm and this phenomenon leads to threats of such acts or coercion and arbitrary deprivation of freedom at the level of public and private life.
