Industry has an active role in developing the infrastructure, transportation web, and the general services which has a priority on other economic sectors in making positive and quick changes in the social and population construction through raising the living and economic level. Therefore, industry has a crucial role on all the economic and social fields, accordingly, the current study was entitled” The Spatial Analysis of Bakeries and Ovens Industries in Holy Kerbala City”.
Industries of bakeries and ovens were established in earlier time in Iraq where holy Kerbala province had a share of it which had potentials that had encouraged to establish them, as well their influence in choosing their locations. The most prominent one is their economic and agricultural nature that provided a wide base of this industry income and provide qualified land transportation roads, internal transportation webs, and huge markets; in addition to the city international holiness and coming of visitors from all over the world that contributed in widening and varying these industries’ structure.
Products of the bakeries and ovens form a local popular present that reflect the rich Iraqi heritage in producing bread. It was depended on the following factors in the study: number of the bakeries and ovens, number of workers, the capital used in this project, machines costs, and the total distance of the project. The study focused on spreading of the bakeries and ovens and their spatial distribution among factors of Al Jazerah, old city, and Al Hindiyah according to the city administrative division. The study aimed at stating the industry significance of the bakeries and ovens in the holy city and uncovering the nature of the geographical distribution of the bakeries and ovens and shedding the light on the basic principles of establishment and development of the bakeries and ovens industry in the holy city and stating this industry nature and the most prominent problems that face its future horizons.
