The current thesis which is entitled” The Semantic Development of expressions in ‘ the expressions and styles’ book to Arabic language academy in Cairo as a model” studies expressions and their structure where Arabic language academy in Cairo clarifies reasons of their use. Therefore, after investigation, the study stated the semantic development in expressions of administration and commerce, the semantic development in media expressions, and the semantic development in political expressions; it limited a sample of expressions to clarify the development technique in it. The study relied on confirming the academy decision in its text first and then discussing this decision in researches presented before. Later, there was a study to this decision by displaying the old’s opinions in their dictionaries and directing the vocabulary meaning reaching to the modernists.
However, the study was divided into three chapters, a preface preceded by introduction, and followed by conclusion containing the most important results and a list of references.
The first chapter which is entitled ‘ the semantic development in administration and commerce expressions ‘ was divided on to alphabetical letters starting with glottal stop reaching the ‘Ya’a’ with exception of the letters ( th, dh, d) due to their absence in this study field in ” the expressions and styles” book.
The second chapter which is entitled’ the semantic development in media expressions’ also contained the expressions that were divided on the alphabetical letters, this chapter did not include ‘ dh’ letter due to its absence in this studied book in media field.
Later, there was chapter three with the title’ the semantic development in politics expressions’ following the same way used in the previous two chapters. However, this chapter was without the ‘dh’ and ‘l’ letters due to their absence in this study field in ” the expressions and styles” book that was specialized in the policy field. This is in addition to presence of common expressions in all the chapters studied within this research. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method to reach goals in tackling this topic. So, the thesis drew the following results:
1.Development of expressions mentioned in” the expressions and styles” book serves Arabic language. Hence, the academy staff were silently working and following with care believing in developing the language and adapting it in accord with the era and its requirements. They stated that time has the great control over this development
