Abstract:
The current dissertation which is entitled ” Sibawayh’s effort in the light of Meaning interpretation and Parsing Estimation ” was written in accord with a chapter of the great linguist Ibn Jeni ( died 392H.). In his book ‘ Al Khesais’, it is the chapter ‘ the difference between Meaning interpretation and Parsing Estimation. In this chapter Ibn Jeni warned not to commit confusion between Meaning interpretation and Parsing Estimation where he gave many examples in which he showed the difference between them saying ‘ this chapter attracts people’s attention. They mostly commit this mistake due to inability to recognize interpretation from estimation and Sibawayh identified this as Arabs identified it before.
In the beginning of the dissertation, this term was established and traced in the books of grammarians and interpreters and stated the mistake and misunderstanding they had. Later, it was formed as in the way mentioned in this dissertation title.
The dissertation came to state that Sibawayh’s book revealed that Sibawayh’s book interprets Arabs speech, as well interpretation books explain Allah’s speech (Holy Quran). This interpretation has special devices that helped Sibawayh and he relied on them. Sibawayh also had a group of paths and principles de depends on them as the verb power in Arabs speech and the subject power and what followed the verb. Sibawayh also highly depended on deletion and implication, interpretation by accusation, and moving from accusation to nomination.
The current dissertation also discussed some scientific news that owners of biography books conveyed about Sibawayh. It stated that most of them implied forgery and change. The current dissertation also discussed some Arabic proverbs that were mentioned in Sibawayh’s book and the interpretation and parsing it arose. It also discussed the texts that Sibawayh transferred from Arabs.
