The current research tackles a basic part of our Arabic culture, that is Arabic narration.
Nature of the study required to be divided into four chapters, preceded by introduction and preface in which we talked about narration and about Hilla city.
The first chapter which is entitled ” the event”, has three sections. The first section was about the two types of the event: the internal and the external. The second section tackled its harmonies: implication, series, and the mixture. The third section dealt with ways of displaying the event represented by ‘ the knowledgably narrator’ and ‘the narrator of the limited science’ and the event type represented by the complete event and whole event. The external dialogue and implication harmony were dominant where the narrator was mostly knowledgeable.
The second chapter which is entitled ” the personality”, has two sections. The first section was about types of personality including its two types: the positive and the negative. The second section tackled ways of displaying personality including the two types: the teller and the displayer. Personalities varied and positivity was dominant, and the teller narration controls over the Hilli verse.
The third chapter which is entitled ” the narration space “, has two sections. The first section was about the time into two sides. The firs is temporal order that discussed recovery and anticipation. The second side was about the narrative movement represented by two phases: accelerating narration by brevity and deletion, and slowing narration by the scene and the pause. The second section tackled the place that has two axes. The first was about the tame place and the hostile place, then the moral and metaphysical Hilla poets increased the recovery and scene presence whereas the tame place increased in Hilli verse then the hostile place.
The fourth chapter which is entitled ” the dialogue”, has three sections. The first section was about types of dialogue: the external dialogue and the internal dialogue ( monologue). The second section tackled the dialogue participants represented by the nature, morals, woman, friend and the enemies; therefore Hilli poet converse all these participants . The third section dealt with dialogue styles including interrogative, order, and vocative. The poets increased the external dialogue which dominated over the internal dialogue by the use of the various dialogue styles.
The conclusion contained the most important results followed by an appendix about the poets and then a list of references and bibliographies as well an abstract in English.
