Discussions of the Foundations of Jurisprudence in the Collection of Commentary - Presentation and Analysis

This research examines the presence of jurisprudential principles in Sheikh al-Tabarsi’s Tafsir Majma’ al-Bayan. It presents the jurisprudential issues the interpreter addresses and analyzes how he employs them in his interpretation of Quranic verses.
It has been shown that al-Tabarsi did not limit himself to textual interpretation, but rather included diverse jurisprudential topics, such as the meaning of words, commands and prohibitions, general and specific, ambiguous and explicit, and others. This reflects his deep knowledge of jurisprudential principles and his reliance on them in interpreting the Quranic text.
The research relied on the analytical inductive method to monitor and classify these topics, then analyze them in terms of context and interpretive function. The analysis revealed that al-Tabarsi was mindful of jurisprudential principles, and that this induction contributed to deepening the rational and ijtihadi dimensions of his interpretation. This makes Majma’ al-Bayan an important model for integrating interpretation with jurisprudential principles.
