Faculty of Law/ Kerbala University has discussed the doctoral dissertation which is entitled “The International Protection of Mass Graves in the Light of the Rules of International Humanitarian Law”.
The study, presented by Shaima Taram Lafta Al-Nawfali, aims at finding out procedures and mechanisms that the state undertakes towards victims at local and international levels which are resorted to by international bodies such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Committee on Missing Persons.
Broadly speaking, the study shows that international protection is a humanitarian and moral necessity. It also confirms the need to promote new mechanisms capable of protecting mass graves during armed conflicts.
