A Researcher from University of Kerbala Obtains a Patent for Producing Silver Nanoparticles

Prof. Dr. Lama Majid Ahmed, who is one of the teaching staff members of Faculty of Science /University of Kerbala has obtained a patent from Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, since she is enable to produce silver nanoparticles by direct ion exchange method and to prove its effectiveness in inhibiting antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
The patent includes how to prepare hybrid nanocomposites from silver nanoparticles with nickel/aluminum dihydroxide layers by different preparation methods using reducing agents and proving their effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of some pathogenic bacteria.
Two direct and indirect methods have been used through different acid functions and proved that the percentage of its liberation in the compound prepared by direct methods is higher and takes less time compared to its liberation in the compound prepared indirectly.
The patent will solve many problems in different areas, including resistance of many bacteria that are resistant to the antibiotics.
