University of Karbala Holding a Seminar entitled “Qur’anic Reading on Imam Hussein’s Martyrdom”

Faculty of Islamic Sciences – University of Kerbala has held a seminar which is entitled “A linguistic and interpretive reading of the Qur’an regarding the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with the participation of professors and researchers.
The seminar aims at presenting the concepts and interpretational visions of the Holy Qur’an concerning Imam Hussein’s martyrdom.
The seminar discusses the book of Prof. Dr. Ali Rahim Al-Hilo, where deals with the martyrdom from the interpretive perspective quoting the verse ” Surah Al Baqara” ” They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month(237). Say: “Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members(238).” Tumult and oppression(239) are worse than slaughter.”* Dr. Al-Hilo mentions that this verse is consistent to what happened for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his family from Medina to Mecca and ending with the eternal incident of Tuff, and he reinforces this vision with multiple linguistic, explanatory and historical evidence.
