College of Education for Humanities, University of Kerbala holds a scientific symposium on “Sustainable Development and Human Rights: An Examination of Opportunities and Challenges.” The symposium which has been presented by Dr. Abbas Abdul-Amir Taha, Dr. Ali Sattar Nouri, Dr. Zaid Kamil Jawad, and Dr. Furqan Muhammad Abdul-Majid, aims at enhancing academic awareness of concepts of sustainable development and human rights, clarifying interrelationships between them, and highlight the most prominent opportunities and challenges facing application of human rights principles within context of achieving sustainable development.
The symposium highlights the concept of sustainable development and its economic, social, and environmental dimensions; defining the concept of human rights and its historical development; and explaining relationship between sustainable development in its various dimensions and human rights.
