With participation of researchers from various Iraqi universities, College of Agriculture, University of Kerbala organizes its third international scientific conference on agricultural sciences.
Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Jassim Barak Al-Maamouri, states that the conference is of importance to face challenges of climate change and issues of food security, together forming one of the most serious threats facing humanity in present and future.
He adds that climate change is no longer merely an environmental phenomenon; it has transformed into a developmental, economic, and humanitarian crisis that has directly impacted agricultural sector through declining productivity and water scarcity. Therefore, sustainable agriculture emerges as an indispensable strategic option and an effective tool for achieving a balance between meeting needs of the present and ensuring the rights of future generations.
For his part, Dean of the College, Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein, explains that accelerating climate change is no longer merely an academic hypothesis, but has become a reality that casts a shadow on our natural resources and food security. He points out that the conference aims at embodying scientific research from theoretical studies into practical applications and developing a roadmap that integrates smart technology with sustainable practices.
