Faculty of Agriculture – University of Kerbala has organized a training course which is entitled (pesticides Resistance and the effect of modern pesticides to avoid this phenomenon).
The course shows the most important groups of manufactured chemical pesticides, their mechanism, and their various ways of impact in combating insects that cause economic losses to crops.
It deals with definition of pesticides resistance, its causes and factors that help its development, as well as the behaviour of pests to avoid pesticides.
The course also discusses the possibility of implementing integrated management programmes, which include growth regulators and pheromones that are important means to limit the spread of pesticide resistance. The course recommends the need to organize courses for workers in agricultural offices and farmers in order to raise awareness so as to reduce the excessive use of chemical pesticides.
