Visual selective attention and its relationship to cognitive failures among university students

          The current research amed to recognized and investigate the relation between the vetual selective attention and the congnative failure of Baghdad university students and the refrence of such difrensess according to the sex and seintific apeaality of the students. to achaive the goals of the study. Its required tow tools in which,the researcher use the testing insturementation of viainna .located in the psyehological taborotary of the education and psgchologicel studying center in Baghda university , to measure the vitul selective attention, the researcher adapted the scale designed by al_rekaby (2010) of the congnative failure, and investigate the measuring properties of the tools. The researcher detected the standerd properties of the cognative failure, in which the hounisty was calculated by the obevius hounisty way, after the agreement of the experts on the use of the testing scale and excepting the modification. in some of the scale parts. The certinity calculated in half partition way and the value of (0.935) was achieved, the hounisty of the selective attention seale good where is the certinity valued from 0.94-0.97 . A sumple of 120 students were used to investigate randomly but equalyin sex level (60 male,60 fcmale).and after using the tow tools.   at the research and analyzing statically the results using scientific of social statistic process spss as the researcher was usel the following statistic testing motheds; *singl testing sample, *daud testing sample*sberman_brown equation *pearson connective equation we achieved the folloing results;

_the student were with high vitual selective attention.

 _low congnatiue tailuer .

_ nagatiue relation between the vital selectine attention and cognative tailure

 _sex have anoti cuble effect on the degree of the vilual selecative attoution of male sample.

 _scintifice speciaity have a modrate effect on the vitual sesctive attention.

 _females shows a noticeable effect on eognative failure .we found a statistic defernses according to speciality in the degree of the cognative failure in response to the scintific speciality grous .  finally; according to the a bove reselts and finding the researcher present numbers of suggestion and comments.
