RP- Academic Integrity and its Relation with the Five Minds to Higher Studies Students .pdf

Abstract:
The current research tackles two main concepts: the academic integrity and the five minds. The academic integrity represents a group of values and techniques that aims at creating intelligence and conduct that are fit to confess the researcher’s intellectual possession regarding thoughts, researches, and published works which are sometimes referred to as an ethical bond to ensure others’ rights. Concerning the five minds, Gardener limited five ways for thinking and skills that academic students require to face and challenge the new world challenges due to the connection between science and technology that started to introduce amazing facilities on all levels. Thus, the current research aims at identifying ‘ the academic integrity and its relation with the five minds to higher studies students ‘ as well, knowing the indication of the statistical differences to the variables ( gender, specialization, and certificate) for all variables; besides, knowing the interrelated relation between the two variables and the differences indication of the relation for both variables.
The researcher adopted the connected descriptive method to carry out the results of the study and aims achievements. Regarding the research sample, the researcher used the statistical analysis sample which is composed of 400 male and female students of higher studies students/ Kerbala University/ scientific specializations for the academic year 2022- 2023. They were chosen in a random classic method that has equal distribution. The main application sample was 400 male and female students/ morning study. To carry the research aims, the researcher designed an academic integrity measurement that its final items reached into 30 items relying on literature reviews and some measurements of related studies. The researcher uncovered the measurement psychometric properties concerning truths and stability. Its coefficient factor, by Cronbach’ Alpha reached into (0.92) and by retesting reached into (0. 83) after application the measurement of its final form on the main research sample that reached 400 male and female students.
Concerning the five minds, the researcher adopted Abdul Hussein 2021 of the five minds that is composed of 54 of its final form. She took out psychometric properties. Its stability factor by Cronbach’ Alpha for each mind of the five ones, for the control mind, stability reached into (0. 88), retesting (0. 84), the structural mind (0. 94), retesting (0. 89), the creative mind (0. 91), retesting (0. 87), the respected mind (0. 78), retesting(0. 75), the behavioral mind(0. 84), retesting(0. 80). Then, the researcher applied both measurements on the research sample, and after the application, she used the statistical devices which are suitable with the current research nature and aims when she got benefit from statistical package for the social sciences (spss).
Therefore, the research concluded the following points:
1. Higher studies students have the academic integrity.
2. There are differences of statistical indication in the academic integrity and the five minds( only the respected mind) due to the gender variable for the females benefit.
3. Higher studies students have possession for the five minds.
4. There are no differences of statistical indication in the academic integrity and the five minds, due to the specialization variable.
5. There is forward related relation between the academic integrity and the five minds.
6. There are differences of statistical indication between the academic integrity and the five minds to higher studies students due to the stage variable for the doctorate benefit. Results were interpreted in accord with the adopted theories in the research and the previous studies.
The research presented the following recommendations:
-Activating the role of universities in emerging the significance of the academic integrity role by including them in the curriculum.
-Improving the students’ cognitive skills through reinforcing their thinking styles to develop the five minds.
-Holding guiding and counselling symposiums in universities for students relating to the academic integrity.
The following suggestion can be drawn:
-Dealing with study variables (the academic integrity, the five minds) with the experimental
