" Identity representations in the poetry of Adnan Al-Sayegh"

Abstract:

The concept of identity has become a focal point concern in societies, it is based on the cultural context in terms of origin and formation, which increased the emphasis on the importance of strengthening identity in various areas of life.
This research dealt with (Identity representations in the poetry of Adnan Al-Sayegh) .
one of the justifications for the choice of this topic is the absence of a studying that dealt with representations of the identity in Adnan Al-Sayegh, and the knowledge of its dimensions, causes and factors. And the reason for choosing Al-Sayegh’s poems as a place for my study is that it (Al-Sayegh’s poems) expresses the harsh reality experienced by most Iraqis and whose pain we saw in the eyes of people who could touch us who are close to us. The necessity of the research necessitated the distribution of the scientific material into three chapters, preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion containing the most important results of this research, with the inclusion of the names of the sources and references on which the research relied.
The introduction has-briefly- the relationship between the identity and the fields of sciences like .
(Philosophy, Sociology,psychology ), and first chapter was entitled (national identity and representations of belonging), which is important for the poet because it obscures his belonging to his homeland.
the chapter included three sections, including the first (identity between belonging and alienation), the second (identity between reality and dream), The third (national identity and the interactions of religion) .
The second chapter is titled (Cultural Identity and Representations of Contrasting), which is an investigation of the poet’s existence and proof of his privacy from (customs, traditions, values and ideas) that express his identity. History, and the heritage.
As for the third chapter, it came under the title of Identity and the Other. Through the identity of the other, we clarify the EGO of the poet, which includes four sections, the first which is the other / the woman, the second the other is a friend, and the third The other is / the authority, and the other fourth / the slack / the fearful.
The other who has a significant and clear impact in highlighting the identity of Al-Sayegh and making it more influential.
