The Grammatical Reasoning in Explaining Kafiyat Ibn Al Hajib by Yaqoub Bin Ahmed Bin Haji Awadh ( Died 845H.)

Reasoning is a prominent feature in the grammatical lesson and a significant remark of its method remarks. It has importance in stating rules and standards. Therefore, many linguists and grammarians rely on reasoning in their judgments and problems. These judgments should have measurement and induction. Thus, measurement is to belong the branch to the origin due to a common reason between them. This is by giving what is measured the standard of the measurement, whereas the reason is the most significant part among measurement principles in deducting the grammatical judgment where measurement cannot be carry out without it.
When I had a look at the book, I found that this topic material was rich and the interest of Bin Haji with reasoning was great since we could neither find a place in the book without reasoning nor a judgment or a rule without reasoning. The researcher adopted a method based on analysis by mentioning the text that implies reasoning. This is followed by clarification and analysis for the reasoning position, then mentioning which grammarian had that interest, stating who adopted this reason or disagreed taking the hierarchical ( chronological) time into account, citing the modernists” speech and comments about the problem if found, finally reaching a brief about the problem.
Nature of the study required to be divided into introduction, a preface, three chapters, and followed by conclusion for the most important results, then the references and bibliography.
The first chapter which is entitled” The grammatical reasoning in the inflected and constructed nouns “, has two sections. The first section was about the grammatical reasoning in the inflected nouns. The second section tackled the grammatical reasoning in the constructed nouns.
The second chapter which is entitled ” The grammatical reasoning in the inflected and constructed verbs “, has two sections. The first section was about the grammatical reasoning in the inflected verbs. The second section tackled the grammatical reasoning in the constructed verbs.
The third chapter which is entitled” The grammatical reasoning in the prepositions “, has three sections. The first section was about the grammatical reasoning in the single letter prepositions. The second section tackled the grammatical reasoning in the double letter prepositions. The third section dealt with the grammatical reasoning in the triple and quadruple prepositions.
The most important results were the following:
1. Reasoning is considered that a prominent phenomenon in Arabic language is inevitable which is an innate outcome to human being where many motifs call for it. It is not restricted in one field and the linguistic research cannot be studied unless through it.
2. Through the research, his great interest with the grammatical reasoning was shown where no judgment or a grammatical problem without reasoning.
3. Through the research, his great interest with the grammatical origins were stated especially hearing and measuring. Thus, citing verse and Quranic ayahs that mentioned in the book increased while he less cited prophetic hadiths.
4. His explanation was full of pedagogical reasons and measuring reasons. He mentioned the grammatical origins that help in understanding and stating the intentions. This indicates that he was skillful scholars, great evidence, and highly thankful.
5. It was ensured through the research that he followed Basri faith where the Basri tendency affected him as well his preference to the Basri faith in the argumentative issues between the two schools.
